hmmm... this must be a common troubleshooting problem... but how did you
install win98? from CD-ROM? didn't the '98 installer recognize the
770's CD?

as i understand (and use the server) the X server is installed on the
virtual machine if you are running Linux in a virtual machine...

not sure about vmware tools for 98, but the vmware X server for Linux
offers a complete range of resolutions... you can start X at 640x480 all
the way up past 1600x1280

i installed NT4.0 in a virtual machine under RH6.0 on my i1451... the
CD-ROM works for the install and i even got sound working under NT!
