[ltp] Ethernet card problem on a i1452, RH 7.1

Greetings!
I've just put RH 7.1 on a Thinkpad iSeries 1452; the sound card works, the
whole thing looks great; I'm having a problem with my ether net card though.
I see the lights flashing on the Dongle, and I put the right proxy
information in my browser, but I can't see the internet.
I get an error during start up:
Bringing up interface eth0: Delaying eth0 initialization
[FAILED]
This is during a littany of things that all show [ OK ].
rp3 1.1.0 runs in my tray down at the bottom, with "0:01 30B","0:01
20B","0:01 130B","0:01 243B" painting quietly in a small window beside a
tiny usage type graph.
Clicking on Local Network gives the error "Could not connect to host
Localhost"
Anybody have ideas?
