[ltp] Thinkpad 600 CDROM woes

This may be dreadfully obvious, but have you tried cleaning the lens?
I only say this because my 770 would play CDs, but stopped playing DVDs 
- it took me months to realise that it wasn't either drivers or hardware 
at fault. If you get intermittent failures as described, it may be worth 
  trying.
