The original patch to the PnP BIOS driver only works with the kernel
version of the driver, not the separate David Hinds driver.

You don't need a patch any more.  Please try the latest -ac kernel,
version 2.4.12-ac2, and get the latest setpnp from David Hinds at:
http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net/ftp/NEW/pcmcia-cs.04-Oct-01.tar.gz
See if you have the same trouble.
