Ted:

Here are the errors that I receive when I try to install the driver
after I build it with the standard and the output of gcc --version. I
used the 'stock' built-module script.

[root@localhost ltmodem-8.22a5]# gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 3.2 20020903 (Red Hat Linux 8.0 3.2-7)

[root@localhost ltmodem-8.22a5]# insmod lt_modem
Using /lib/modules/2.4.18-14/ltmodem/lt_modem.o
/lib/modules/2.4.18-14/ltmodem/lt_modem.o: The module you are trying to
load (/lib/modules/2.4.18-14/ltmodem/lt_modem.o) is compiled with a gcc
version 2 compiler, while the kernel you are running is compiled with
a gcc version 3 compiler. This is known to not work.

Something is not working properly here.
