My 770Z running Redhat 9 uses the Trident driver as well (XFree86
4.3.0) and Xv works there.  Not that this help much, but it's a point of
reference.

I had to play DVDs the same way until I figured out how to "fix" X when I
ran Redhat 8.0 (basically, I copied over a working trident.o file
from an old version of Redhat!). It's no fun.
