I'd also like to get rid of the Cisco driver,
the GUI is horrible and it doesn't survive a suspend.

So I installed airo_mpi in the kernel sources 2.4.21
(copied airo_mpi.c, airo.c, mic.h and airo.h, modified Makefile
adding airo_mpi.o to

export-objs     := airo.o orinoco.o hermes.o airo_mpi.o

and adding line

obj-m                           += airo_mpi.o
), it compiled ok, install kernel, reboot, modprobe airo_mpi,
the card is found

wireless-tools are new to me, I'm playing around with /etc/network/interfaces
to enter the key of my wlan, doing a few ifup/ifdown eth1

Jul 4 20:09:21 freitag kernel: cap rid len = 132

Jul 4 20:09:50 freitag kernel: Writing SSID rc = 0

then after a while

Jul 4 20:15:56 freitag kernel: cap rid len = 132

and my network layer hangs.
I use Debian with wireless-tools 26-1.

Any clues?
