As you seem to have nothing to lose.  You might see if you can determine 
whether or not you can cannabilize the pieces needed for you old machine 
from the boat anchor you just procured.  If I recall you seem to have had a 
problem with a power supply or something similar.  Perhaps between the two 
machines you have enough good parts to come up with one working machine.
