Paul and Joel,

For what it's worth, my USB port on the port replicator (with a T40 in it)
works just fine.  I was having troubles with a KVM switch and just gave up,
plugging a USB mouse permanently in the replicator.  I always boot up from
scratch when I dock the machine, and the USB mouse works fine in the BIOS
menus, which I find to be useful for figuring out where the problems lie --
if it doesn't work there, it's the hardware.
