[ltp] IBM Thinkpad G40 issues

Hi,

I've recently bought a new IBM G40 series Thinkpad and I have some
questions I'd like to check with the people on this list. The NIC is a
Broadcom 5901 100Mbit controller. It's supported by broadcoms own
bcm5700 driver, but the latest version on their website is for kernel
2.4.21. The driver works just fine with that kernel but I've not been
able to make it work with a 2.4.23-pre kernel or 2.6.0-test kernel (not
very surprising that it's not working with a 2.6 kernel though).

So my questions are:

1) Has anyone been able to compile and use the broadcom driver for a
kernel more recent than 2.4.21?

2) In the latest kernels (both 2.4 and 2.6), support has been added for
the 5901 NIC in the "tg3" driver, but it doesn't seem to do anything for
me. Has anyone else been able to use the G40's NIC with the tg3 driver?
(both positive and negative reports would be great).

Thanks in advance,
David Härdeman
