[ltp] ATI's fglrx driver and fullscreen VMWare

Hi everyone.

T40p, ATI Mobility FireGL 9000
XFree 4.3.0.1
(II) fglrx(0): Version: 3.7.0
(II) fglrx(0): Date: Dec 18 2003
(but also with fglrx 3.2.8)

Does anyone else have the following problem?

Everything runs fine after starting X. glxgears reports something in the
2000fps range, glxinfo runs fine, too.

But after using VMWare in fullscreen mode (and having DGA activated for
that by 'Option "xfree86-dga"' in XF86Config), glxgears and even glxinfo
don't start anymore but just hang.
They can't be killed (not even with -9) and they consume as much CPU
cycles, as they can get, until the next reboot.

Looks like VMWare's fullscreen DGA mode is leaving the fglrx driver in
some confused state, so glx programs don't run any more...

(Same with some other programs, too. E.g. OpenOffice starts and runs
fine, but upon closing, also remains as hung process...)

Greetings, UW(e)
