Hello,

-- Problem:

Trouble with a new PCMCIA Zoom modem (v.92, model 3005) on TP 40
running RedHat 9 with 2.4.20-8 kernel. I am wondering if anyone
 got this working or can offer advice.

I tried excluding the port (0x02f8), but on the next pcmcia
start attempt the same problem happened, but with a different
port (0x02e8), so I have a feeling this is not the problem.

I also tried excluding IRQ 3 and specifying all other IRQs via
/etc/pcmcia/config:

device "serial_cs"
class "serial" module "serial_cs" opts "irq_list=4"

(I went from IRQ 0 to 11, none worked)

If it helps, here is more info:

# cat /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia

PCMCIA=yes
PCIC=yenta_socket
PCIC_OPTS=
CORE_OPTS=
CARDMGR_OPTS=-v
#SCHEME=default

lspci gives:

02:00.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1250 PC card
Cardbus Controller (rev 01)
02:00.1 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1250 PC card
Cardbus Controller (rev 01)

This is on RedHat 9 (kernel 2.4.20-8).

Finally, cardctl ident says:

product info: "LT WIN MODEM", "PC card", "", ""
function: 2 (serial).

The 'product info' line worries me a lot, for obvious reasons
:(

Should I recycle this modem or is there hope for bringing it to
life under Linux?

Thanks,
Otis
