I discovered, however, that tpctl _can_ switch between the displays correctly 
for some reason (supposedly Fn-F7 does the same stuff as tpctl). the option 
are --sdi={enable|disable} for internal and --sdc={enable|disable} for the 
external display (the c is for CRT). Note that for this to work well you can 
only have one display active at the same time, but more than enough has been 
written about getting dual-screen to work.
