Well, what do you rely on to say this?
I got the same temperature, either with THM0 or ibm-acpi

# cat /proc/acpi/ibm/thermal
temperatures:   84 52 36 75 37 -128 30 -128
# cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM0/temperature
temperature:             84 C

Yeah, it's hot, my gentoo is currently uprading itself. ;)
