I have run into a bit of an odd glitch I hope someone can help me with-

T21, running Debian-based Libranet 2.6.11, Gnome 2.8, acpi and I can't
seem to record sound with Audacity 1.2.3. If I plug a sound source into
the sound-in jack I can hear it through the speakers (and change it's
volume with aumix or gnome volume control "line in"), but even though I
have Audacity looking at "line" as the input it doesn't record anything
when I hit record.

I've tried every slider, checked and unchecked every mute and/or record
box (and every combination) in aumix and gnome volume control, every
possible selection as input to Audacity to no avail, it's just weird.

In the preferences in Audacity /dev/dsp is the only option for recording
and playback device, but in gnome volume control I have tabs for both
"Cirrus Logic CS4297A rev 4 [OSS Mixer]" and "Sound Fusion CS46xx [Alsa
Mixer]", and changing the line slider in both (or either?) changes the
volume of the incoming sound source through the speakers.

Can anyone throw some light on this (I'm sure it's just something really
dumb I'm not doing!)?

Thanks in advance,
