USB on my T40 has never worked either in Windows or linux, except to 
support the mouse.  I supposed it is a side effect of the non-stock reduced 
price configuration ordered by my employer.  How could the controller be 
"fried" with the mouse still working, and the Windows device manager 
claiming that the USB2 controller is working?
