On 1 out of 10 boots my IBM X23 will lock up during kernel boot the last
line reads:
	"Checking 'hlt' instruction"

I am running Slackware 10 with Kernel 2.6.9. Anybody have any clues as
to why this happens? My thought is this weekend I will load Slackware
10.1 and keep the 2.4.x kernel that comes with the OS. It is rare that
I use suspend to RAM or suspend to disk so I don't require a 2.6.x
kernel. If I still have trouble is it safe to say that I have a
hardware problem? Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks.
