[ltp] Wep problems

I can't make Wep work on my wireless lan.
The problem seems to be that my router ( Netgear WGR614 v4) requires 40 
hex digits and fedora is
only capable of supplying 26.
Iwconfig reports the 26 digits xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xx Security 
mode:restricted
Link Quality=86/100
Can anyone see the problem here?
