[ltp] LCD-DVI on T4x; ultrabay hotswap

I'm having two long-standing problems with my T40 which I have made no 
progress with for a long time.

1. I can't switch video output (console or X, running kernel radeon 
driver) between the LCD and external DVI (port replicator pass-through). 
The relevant ibm-acpi commands don't do anything.

2. I can't safely hotswap my dvd drive for my second hdd drive. The IDE 
subsystem logs a bunch of error messages, and normally I can't insert 
either device back in and have it work.

Both things work flawlessly in Windows with no tweaking at all.

Any suggestions?
