I've had the same problem (TP A31 running Sid, homebaked 2.5.15 from
Debian source). I do not know what the cause is -- but it goes away
when I downgrade udev (dpkg -i udev_0.079-1_i386.deb).

I look forward with interest to seeing if anyone knows the solution.
