[ltp] EC hangs again?

I thought that the embedded controller hangs in tp_smapi were licked once and 
for all, but I think I've brought it back out again. I have kernel 2.6.16 
with tp_smapi 0.20 and a patched hdaps driver. I get the symptoms of the 
bug--loss of builtin keyboard and mouse, loss of battery level reporting, and 
messages in my syslog:

The difference this time is I am doing something that probably triggers an 
avalanche of interrupts (I think)--watching DVD-quality MPEG video, streamed 
over a wireless connection via NFS. For reference, my wireless card is an 
ipw2200 operating in 802.11g mode. I am using the in-kernel NFS client to 
access the video. I am using XVideo hardware scaling.

This has happened twice now, so I think something's not right here.
