[ltp] ACPI stops working on A22m

I had a similar issue with a JVC MiniNote laptop running Ubuntu Breezy -
also a 2.6.12 kernel.  After some days of suspend/hibernate/resume
activity, ACPI events would just stop working.  Like you, I would notice
that when I went to suspend the laptop and nothing happened.  

What cured the problem for me was to *manually* run the suspend or
hibernate script when this occurred.  When the laptop woke back up, ACPI
events worked again.

That was more of a kludge than a solution, but the only other thing I
found that would solve the problem was a reboot.
