Actually, to be totally safe, you can buy a hand crank.  It fits in
the electrical connection where the battery used to go, and snaps on
the side of the machine.  So you put the machine basically at the edge
of a desk, type with your left hand, and crank with your right hand.
No danger of explosion, though you have to be careful about sweating
into the keyboard.
