Yes, I see the same on my X60 with the video module blacklisted - when
using Fn-Home/End, the value in /proc/acpi/ibm/brightness doesn't
change. 

I definitely get 8 levels (0-7) from /proc/acpi/ibm/brightness even with
video blacklisted, however, and it still takes the right number of
Fn-Home/End keystrokes to get to back to full brightness.

Blacklisting doesn't seem to stop /proc/acpi/ibm/brightness working, but
it does stop Fn-Home/End from turning the X display permanently black.
