Good morning!

I've tried the same on my R61 yesterday. I followed the german Ubuntu
Wiki. There I have to use the modules hdaps_ec and tp_smapi.
They are saying, that there (in Hardy and newer) should be two hdaps
modules. The older hdaps and the newer hdaps_ec module. It's strongly
recommended to use the newer hdaps_ec module. Because the old version
dont support the parking of the disk head and won't work with tp_smapi.

In one of the last kernel-updates, the newer module gets lost:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/297213
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/274510

Since yesterday I'm searching for a solution, to get back hdaps_ec.

Also, the old module dont like to get started on my system with
tp_smapi. If tp_smapi is loaded and I try to get hdaps up:

| WARNING: Error inserting hdaps
(/lib/modules/2.6.27.2/kernel/drivers/hwmon/hdaps.ko): No such device or
address

The otherway round isn't also working. I only get a different error-message:

| WARNING: Error inserting thinkpad_ec
(/lib/modules/2.6.27.2/kernel/ubuntu/misc/thinkpad_ec.ko): No such
device or address
| WARNING: Error inserting tp_smapi
(/lib/modules/2.6.27.2/kernel/ubuntu/misc/tp_smapi.ko): Unknown symbol
in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

I think, without the hdaps_ec module, you can stop trying...

Greetings!

Michael
