okay.

under X, nothing works. echoing any of the commands into the /proc node
results in both screens being active. sometimes one blanks briefly before
coming back.

when on the console, none of the commands work, with the exception of:
    a) video_switch, which causes one, or the other, of the displays to
be active, but never both, and
    b) a combination of "crt_enable,lcd_disable" (or vice versa), which
	act just like video_switch.

under no circumstances can i get both displays on in console mode.

auto-switching doesn't seem to work, at least when docking or undocking.

i'm not sure how to test the expand_toggle, and i don't have a dvi output.

let me know if i should try anything else.
