To all Lenovo ThinkPad users, using Linux kernels 2.6.23 or later:

If you have any of the newer BIOSes, you probably *have* to add the
following kernel parameter to the bootloader, so as to get the ThinkPad
firmware to behave:

acpi_osi="Linux"

Kernels 2.6.22 and previous always defined that osi string. 2.6.23 and later
don't (for now, at least).

It should at the very least fix the X61/T61 problems with the "mute" key.
Maybe others, too.

If anyone observed weirdness on their ThinkPads (Lenovo or IBM) when going
to 2.6.23 or later, I recommend also trying the acpi_osi="Linux" parameter.

This is a temporary solution, I will send another notice when a better one
becomes available.
