[ltp] The meaning of beeps?

Could some kind soul remind me what two beeps, a second or so apart,
mean as an error code at boot-time
(or point me to an URL where the beep errors are listed)?

I have a T23 whose screen stopped functioning a year or so ago,
and which I left on my re-cycling shelf.
Then it occurred to me recently that it might be possible to use it
as a remote server.

I tried to get the screen working at the time
by transplanting the screen from a T21 whose motherboard had cracked.
This didn't work, and unfortunately I don't remember the exact state
I left the machine in.
(I do remember there were a surprising number of screws left over!)

Apart from wondering about the meaning of two beeps,
I was also wondering if it is in fact possible to run a ThinkPad
with the screen disconnected?

And my third question is: If it is possible to run a ThinkPad in this way,
what would be the best way of communicating with it?

The reason these probably foolish thoughts arose
was that I have been looking around for a "green" server
using as little current as possible,
and I've been quite struck by the efficiency of the ThinkPad and charger
in this respect.
The charger seems to turn off completely when the battery is full,
while my desktops seem to use considerable current
even when they are sleeping.

I should say that when I start this broken machine,
I do see something very dim on the screen;
and also the hard disk light comes on for a second.
(I tested the hard disk on another machine, and it works fine.)

As always, any suggestions or advice gratefully received.
