I've bought nothing but ThinkPads since my 750P in 1993. I'm also a 
software developer. I'm running Fedora Linux on my T400, and before that 
on a T60 (IBM-branded). They are still built very well, and much better 
than ideapad or plain Lenovo laptops. You can still get 4 year 
warranties on some models. (Do they still offer 5 years on some?)

They are fine machines.
