[ltp] wheezy on T42 thinkpad buttons stopped working

I installed Debian Wheezy on a T42 last week. So far, it works fine
except for one problem that developed a couple days ago. The Thinkpad
buttons no longer work. I really only use the hibernate and suspend
buttons, but these aren't recognized. Does anyone know what might be
going on? It doesn't seem that the tpb package has any sort of debug mode
for dealing with this kind of thing.
