[ltp] SSD express drive recommendations?

I have an IBM thinkpad t520, nvidia optimus, i7-2720QM with 8GB
RAM and 500GB disk. When I was shopping for it, I asked the list for
advice that included talking about adding an SSD drive to a thinkpad
T520. There was some discussion and some good advice. I was told
that I could get an SSD express card that would be bootable and/or
could have a swap drive put on it:

I ended up putting off buying the SSD drive, but now I'm thinking
about finally buying an SSD express card. Anybody have a vendor or
model recommendation?

My reasons for buying are primarily performance boost (I've worn
a bit of the shine off my new toy :-).

But also because I want to go to multiboot and three more boot
partitions, mainly because I'm trying to do some things (working with
3D software, using an external monitor (which you really need to work
with the crowded GUIs these 3D packages use), and road-testing newer
releases (I'm on ubuntu 12.4 LTS running xubuntu-desktop). I can
scavenge space for the extra boot partitions, but why not get an extra
drive and treat myself to a little performance as well?
