One thing people might want to experiment with is to only disable the taping and enable two-finger scrolling.
I use the trackpoint and the 3 buttons for everything but scrolling long pages. Scrolling is one thing pads are good at, and setting two-finger instead of edge + disabling tap avoid triggering it by mistake.
