Adaptec 1460C (strange thing)

OK, this is w-e-i-r-d...

I have a TP770z. I installed RH6.0 with an Adaptec
1460C and various different ethernet cards. Currently
rotating between National Semiconductor Infomover,
3com 589, and a Megahertz 55.6/10BT combo card.

Problem is that during install, the 1460C cannot be
found during the scsi identify process. Neither can
any of the ether cards. Pop out the cards and
re-insert 10BT card and everything is fine. all the
while I am doing FTP installations hence the need for
pcmcia access.

Incidently, I always got a timeout error on the scsi
bus when booting with the card installed.

Today, by sheer accident, I am about to install RH5.2
and I pop out both cards to swith ether cards. I pop
in the ethre, and all is well. For giggles and grins
I pop in the 1460C to try the "/sbin/cardctl ident"
command... Voila! Before I type anything, everything
connected is identified. SCSI works... No idea why.

About to do a fresh install and will see what happens.
Will post. Maybe all along, I had scsi support but
some starnge conflict or initialize error occured?

Confused...
