[ltp] PCMCIA CDROM drive

I am running RH 6.0 on a ThinkPad 560e and use the same CDROM drive with
success so I am sure it works. I can offer you the following
information which might help you. I generally run the CDROM (which uses
a PCMCIA SCSI card, a rebranded Adaptec 1460A) along with a Xircom
ethernet/modem card. The Xircom card takes IRQ 3 and the SCSI card for
the CDROM then gets IRQ 9. This works fine. However, as a test, I
tried using the SCSI card alone. It then takes IRQ3 and I then get the
same sorts of timeout errors you are seeing. I believe, but cannot be
certain, that this behaviour is new in RH 6.0 since I think I was able
to use the SCSI card alone in RH 5.2. Be that as it may, I would
suggest that you try your SCSI card on a different IRQ (IRQ 9 seems to
work for me). I haven't looked into this any further since it generally
isn't a problem with my setup, so I can't give you the appropriate setup
changes off the top of my head but a little investigation into PCMCIA
setup should give it to you.
Hope this helps and let me know if you fix the problem.
Cheers,
Scott
