perhaps a bit off-topic but perhaps somebody can at least give me a
pointer how to proceed:
I'm running a T21 with standard RH 7.1 which installs
XFree86-4.0.3. Now, what is the best way to upgrade to XFree86-4.1.0
(don't say install SuSE 7.2). Ideally I am looking for a set of RPMs
that I could just load on top of my existing installation, however, the
binary distributions on xfree86.org deliver only tar.gz vesions and even
if they were repackaged to RPM they would still not install the stuff in
the places where RedHat has decided they should be. I have seen postings
where such upgrades left the machine screwed up for instance because the
RedHat places the xkb related files in different directories.
Any thoughts? Any recipes how to do the update?
