Which Thinkpad?  My 600E (5UA) used 1024x768 at 60Hz (the card actually
will accept up to 85Hz, something that I checked out after I installed
OpenLinux 2.3 on it).  I selected an NEC LCD monitor at 1024x768 and
this works.
