[ltp] A21p + Mandrake 8.0

I've tried installing Mandrake 8.0 on an A21p. The install is OK apart
from: No mouse and X server not working correctly.

I have absolutely no idea why the mouse won't work (it works perfectly
well under Debian), it isn't detected during the install and is never
found however I try to configure the device (during install or after).

With X I get a vertical bar about 2/3rd accross from left to right, the
portion of the screen to the right of the bar should be furth to the left
than what is shown to the left of the bar... a bit like the screen has
been pushed one way by 1/3rd and it has wrapped - the veritcal bar being
the screen edge... the whole screen is not displayed though, even with
the wrap I do not see it all... not only that but the are lots of
flickers. I've compared the XF86Config with that used on my Debian system
and they are identical.

Any help solving the above problems will be gratefully received.
