I can tell you why the mouse doesn't work. It's because MandrakeSoft screwed
up the kernel they shiped with 8.0. Consequently the only way to get it
working is to compile your own kernel from generic 2.4.3 sources instead of
those patches they applied for USB support.
Are you using XF86Config-4?
I have one of those that works.
I'd also really like to know how to configure an optical wheel mouse up so
that it works with my trackpoint too.
I'm on an a21p as well.
