Hi Brian,
I actually have worked with the recovery cd for my 600x several times. In
each case I had to run the
recovery disk twice. The first time I got the same problems you
encountered. When I ran the
recovery disk again I had no problems.

The problem described in my last message has been resolved. For some
reason unknown to me the recovery CD installed w98 on the new hard drive
after I reinstalled the bios ITET54WW and made the following changes in
the bios: Quick boot - Enable, CPU S/N - Disable, F12 boot - Disable,
Start up/Power on/ - Floppy, CDrom, HDD1, HDD2. Which one of these was
exactly the culprit is a mystery to me.
