[ltp] Newbie --- Thinkpad 600, Redhat 8.0, Sound?

Hi,

somehow I managed to stumble on a solution. I installed sndconfig, run it, when 
selecting the CS423X card and trying to play the sample files, well, it didn't. 
I gave up, hoping that it would play the CD anyway, and, it does. It does not 
complain about no soundcard anymore on booting, and the CD plays beautifully. I 
couldn't tell you about the streaming audio yet, though: I still have to see if 
the modem is working fine, I hear this is another usual weak point in the 
thinkpad-linux setting (any help on installing this?).
