Howdy, eh!
I'm running Mandrake 9.2 w/KDE on a ThinkPad i1300 (1171-9MU) and having a
couple issues:
1) Can't get Linux to recognize the TrackPoint device at all, must use an
external mouse. If the external mouse (a PS/2 device) comes unplugged
during a session, plugging it back in doesn't restore function; it is
necessary to reboot to regain use of the mouse.
2) Tried to install Mandrake 10, didn't get far -- hung in the final
stages of booting from CD1. Tried burning several CD1s from rpms
downloaded from several different sources, same result. Tried booting from
CD2, got an error box saying "Please insert CD1". Did so, and it hung.
It starts to boot, then simply stalls most of the way through the process
with a black screen. Blue bar at the top ("F1 for here, F3 for logs, F4
for something else") and blue bar at the bottom (don't remember what it
says). Anyone had success putting Mdk10 on such a machine as mine?
3) Thought to try Fedora, and Fedora's CDs *would* boot, but it wouldn't
recognize my partitioning and wanted to blow away the whole hard drive
(part of which contains Windoze). Meh?
I am a relative newbie, so please go easy on me...
Thanks in advance!
