What makes you think that? I tried various acpi_os_name's, and found no
difference, in S3 suspend my T41 always uses about 5W.
It is true that IBM's dsdt checks for os names (the mere possibility to
do so is already a horrible acpi misfeature, what were those people
thinking). And the detected os changes the program flow in the dsdt at
many places, but I have no clue what precisely IBM is doing here.
Interestingly, there is a LNUX name but this is nowhere used. The dsdt
also checks for _REV>=2, but every implementation probably satisfies that.
Since you are the radeon specialist :-), what is your opinion on the
"radeonfb: suspending to state: 2" (acpi) vs. "state: 3" (apm)
as mentioned in the kernel bugzilla. Does this for sure not make any
difference?
