This is my experience as well. Removing the modules saves considerable
battery power, roughly an hour or more in my case. With a 9 cell Li-ion,
CPU speed set at 600 MHz, and my display brightness at it's lowest
setting, I get about 3.5-4 hours of life while using wireless. If I
remove the modules, I get a solid 5 hours, sometimes more.
