That sounds like my usual results. I don't think the M7 is good for a
lot more performance in truecolour mode, and I won't run 16bpp just for
the happiness of my screensavers *g*. BTW: I got an additional ~150
glxgears fps by adding the following settings in XF86Config-4:
Section "Device"
**usual blahblah**
Option "AGPMode" "4"
Option "AGPFastWrite" "on"
Option "EnablePageFlip"
EndSection
3519 frames in 5.0 seconds =3D 703.800 FPS
3474 frames in 5.0 seconds =3D 694.800 FPS
3528 frames in 5.0 seconds =3D 705.600 FPS
I don't think glxgears hits the AGP that hard, so it must be the page
flipping option. Those changes also give Q3 a little speedup (2 fps in a
timedemo...). Seems like real-world apps^H^H^H^Hgamez don't pageflip as
much as glxgears does, so this optimization is a little superfluous. It
does help with the penis replacement factor though ;-)
