Actually the kernel option "noapic" passed through lilo had
no effect. I've been advised to pass the option "nolapic" instead
(I guess "lapic" stands for "Local APIC"), so that the full line in
lilo.conf is
append="devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi splash=silent acpi=off apm=on nolapic"
Now, the power is switched off correctly at each shutdown.
