With your configuration and the 2.6.1 APM works fine.

The thinkpad-modules from debian(testing) dosen't work also with me, but I you use this the 
thinkpad-moules from this Page: 
http://www.student.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de:8080/~zeimetz/R40-Debian/debian/kernel/
and they works. 
Thank you for the help.

But my main Problem exists beyond. The Thinkpad goes after 10 Minutes in the Sleep Modus, 
if there is no input from the keybord/mouse. Have anyone an Idee.
