Honey,
Just to confirm that using 'cat -A' showed that the end of lines were
marked with ^A$. I have no clue why or even what that means, but I noted
that other files were only marked with $ at the end of the lines.
Yanking the text into a new emacs window got rid of it. Now it works
fine, thanks.
