When I get a new computer, I restore the operating system several times. T=
his=20
way, I know I can, and any gotcha's about it. That's the only valid test o=
f=20
the install media - and if it fails at first, it's under warranty so I can=
=20
still get something done about it.
When I put in a new GNU/Linux operating system, I install it several times =
in=20
a row, as I learn about installation choices, and try new options, partitio=
n=20
schemes, and learn about any gotcha's about it.
By doing this first thing, I have no worry about losing my data - as I don'=
t=20
have any yet, and can try things without fear. I learn things I wouldn't=20
learn otherwise, as it's not a big hassle to try them, and I learn them=20
before I need them. I think it's fun - I get to experiment while it's not =
so=20
costly to do it.
I can restore any of my computers for diagnosis, disaster recovery, or resa=
le,=20
and I still have most of my hair.
Cheers,
Bret
