[ltp] ThinkPad T42p internal modem

I'm running SUSE Linux 9.2, kernel 2.6.9.

So far I have been unable to get dial-up to work with the internal
soft-modem in my new ThinkPad T42p. The entry in /proc/pci shows this:

Modem: Intel Corp 82801 DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4L/ICH4M) AC'97 modem
controller (rev 1)

YAST finds the modem and had me install the smartlink-modem package.
No joy. When I fire up wvdial, pointed to ttySL0, it complains about
device or resource busy.

I searched the archives for the past 6 months and found nothing that
looked like it might help.

Am I missing the right driver for this modem?
