Does the type of alcohol matter? Maybe denatured, which is ethanol with 
enough methanol added to make it poisonous?

John, consider yourself commiserated. :) I lost my first computer, a 
Toshiba T1000XE, to a cola spill in a moving car. (Later that same day 
we had a collision, too!) Good luck. Maybe I'll dig it out and try it 
on my old Toshiba, although it wouldn't be very useful in this day. 
(Maybe DOS with TCP/IP to use as a text-only terminal.)
